MEET OUR TEAM

Digby Leddin
Winemaker & Viticulturist

Woody Nook Wines is pleased to welcome Digby Leddin who commenced on 12 October 2020 following the recent retirement of Neil Gallagher. Neil, the son of the founders Wynn and the late Jeff Gallagher, stayed on following the purchase of Woody Nook Wines by the Baileys in 2000.

Digby joins us from Riverbank Estate in Caversham where he achieved great accolades for the four vintages of his tenure. Prior to this, Digby’s career developed over a 20 year period with Lamont’s Winery in the Swan Valley, initially as Viticulturist and Cellarhand followed by promotion to Winemaker in 2003, a position he held until 2016.

No doubt Digby’s considerable experience, energy and enthusiasm will further build on Woody Nook’s reputation for excellent premium wines.

Courtney Dunkerton
Sales & Marketing Manager

Assistant Winemaker

Courtney joined Woody Nook in January 2011. She is tertiary qualified in marketing and came to us with considerable wine sales experience in Perth and Margaret River. She has been busy expanding Woody Nook's presence in Western Australia and is now focussed on establishing new markets for us both interstate and overseas. Year end 2014 saw Courtney receive a Graduate Diploma in Oenology which she undertook part-time at Curtin University in Margaret River. In early 2016 Courtney took over assisting in all things winemaking, which role involves her before, during and after vintage, but allows her to wear her sales and marketing 'hat' throughout the rest of the year.

Josephine Field
Administrator

After a long career in the hospitality industry working as an Executive Assistant for several hotel groups, Jo joined us in May 2015 having relocated to the south-west from Sydney via Perth. Running our Adopt-A-Vine programme, ordering items for our gift shop, producing sales statistics, stock reconciliations, invoices and export documentation together with generally assisting with all aspects of the business means that we feel very lucky to have acquired Jo's services! When not looking after Woody Nook's administrative functions, Jo enjoys interior design and exploring the region.

Leone Fairbrass
Bookkeeper

Leone Fairbrass joined us as Bookkeeper in May 2022. Leone has been involved in the local wine industry from her teenage years, having been born in Wilyabrup. She has picked grapes, tended and pruned vines, helped make and bottle wine and fulfilled various administration and bookkeeping roles for other wineries, all excellent experience for her new one at Woody Nook.

Peter Bailey
Owner
Although he had had a long time appreciation and knowledge of fine wine, Peter had not been involved in its production until buying Woody Nook. His background is in mining and refining, a career which took him to Africa and several locations in both Australia and the U.S.A. After more than twenty years with Alcoa, where his final position was that of President of their Industrial Chemicals Division, Peter was the CEO of Sherwin Alumina in Corpus Christi, Texas until his retirement in January 2007. He and Jane have a 37 year old son, Nigel, who lives and works in Florida.

Jane Bailey
Owner

Jane oversees the day-to-day running of Woody Nook, or at least those aspects not directly under Neil Gallagher's field of expertise. She had a long secretarial career that began at 10 Downing Street in London and ended with twelve years with Qantas in Perth. Her office skills have been put to good use and she especially enjoys her involvement with the promotional and marketing side of the business and selecting new lines for the gift shop.
