Neil came to Margaret River in 1980 to help his parents establish their vineyard. He worked in other trades to maintain an income, whilst tending the vines and building the Winery. He took over the winemaking role in 1990 and, with the new ownership in 2000, continued to be responsible for all aspects of viticulture and wine production at Woody Nook.

Craig joined Woody Nook in January 2011. He is tertiary qualified in marketing and came to us with considerable wine sales experience in Perth and Margaret River. He has been busy expanding Woody Nook's presence in Western Australia and is now focussed on establishing new markets for us both interstate and overseas. Year end 2014 saw Craig receive a Graduate Diploma in Oenology which he undertook part-time at Curtin University in Margaret River. When Michael Brophy retired in early 2016 Craig took over assisting Neil in all things winemaking, which role will see him involved before, during and after vintage, but able to wear his sales and marketing 'hat' at other times.

After a long career in the hospitality industry working as an Executive Assistant for several hotel groups, Jo joined us in May 2015 having relocated to the south-west from Sydney via Perth. Running our Adopt-A-Vine programme, ordering items for our gift shop, producing sales statistics, stock reconciliations, invoices and export documentation together with generally assisting with all aspects of the business means that we feel very lucky to have acquired Jo's services! When not looking after Woody Nook's administrative functions, Jo enjoys interior design and exploring the region.

Vanessa joined us in November 2017, bringing extensive experience to the role, having worked in accounting for the past ten years, both in administration and bookkeeping positions. Growing up in WA, Vanessa has lived in Busselton since 2013. Her main 'off duty' interest is her family but she enjoys sewing as a hobby. She acknowledges that the systems and procedures implemented by her predecessor are making her settling in period very smooth.

Although he has had a long time appreciation and knowledge of fine wine, Peter has not been involved in its production until now. His background is in mining and refining, a career which has taken him to Africa and several locations in both Australia and the U.S.A. After more than twenty years with Alcoa, where his final position was that of President of their industrial chemicals division, Peter was the CEO of Sherwin Alumina in Corpus Christi, Texas until his retirement in January 2007. He and Jane have a 30 year old son, Nigel, who lives and works in Miami, Florida.

Jane oversees the day-to-day running of Woody Nook, or at least those aspects not directly under Neil Gallagher's field of expertise. She had a long secretarial career that began at 10 Downing Street in London and ended with twelve years with Qantas in Perth. Her office skills are now being put to good use again and she is especially enjoying her involvement with the promotional and marketing side of the business and selecting new lines for the gift shop.
