'Woodcote' Chenin Blanc 2023

"Woodcote" Chenin Blanc 2023 was named after our former restaurant; Woody Nook at Woodcote, in the Oxfordshire Village of Woodcote, which for ten years provided a showcase for Woody Nook's wines in England. 

Aromas of elderflower and pink lady apple lead to a palate of nashi pear, honeydew and subtle notes of lemon meringue with a lingering Tahitian lime finish. 

Winemaker's Notes

Woody Nook Wines Chenin Blanc 2023 was made from 5.29 tonne of Gallagher Block Chenin Blanc hand-picked on the 28th of February, 2023, 2023 at 12.7° baumé. The fruit was bought straight to the winery, chilled overnight, then destemmed and pressed to a stainless-steel tank for cold settling off grape solids. This was followed by a cool fermentation (17 -18C) for 13 days with Alchemy yeast producing a bone dry style suitable both for early drinking or long-term cellaring.   The addition of a barrel fermented component (8.5%) adds to the complexity.   The Wine was stabilized, fined and filtered before bottling in mid-June 2023.
