Chardonnay (Oaked) 2016
Produced and bottled at Woody Nook's single vineyard estate, this wine exhibits fresh apple and sweet melon aromas enhanced by subtle toasty oak characters on the nose. The medium bodied palate combines melon and stone fruit with a hint of creaminess. A streak of crunchy green apple acidity gives the wine freshness and a lingering finish. Drinking well now, however medium term cellaring of three to five years will be rewarded.
On February 8, 2016, 9.24 tonnes of Chardonnay grapes were picked on the new block of the estate at a Bourné of 12.2° and transported to the winery, crushed, pressed and pumped into stainless steel refrigerated tanks for settling. The clear juice was then racked to fermenters for alcohol fermentation, 100% in stainless steel tanks. This process took 7 days. The wine was then transferred to a mixture of new and one-year-old French barriques to complete fermentation and mature over eight months with regular battonage. 468 cases were produced in December 2016.
Awarded a Silver Medal and 93 International Wine Challenge points by the Judges at the International Wine Challenge 2021.
